I created Rural Room, to bring regional creative talent together by joining the storytelling dots online. I designed the creative digital hub to release #storiesfromthesticks told authentically to wide audiences. Additional to the syndication and circulation of original regional stories and user generated content, we curate and promote regional creative content and develop large scale multi-media projects created on the ground with communities. Our first major project is the transmedia web series, Rain Dance, about two women in a shearing team, which will be toured through shearing shed screenings in regional towns all over Australia when completed in 2019. We’ve also designed a roving regional story hub (the Agri-Arts-Activator) and launched the Rural Room Media Stringers, comprising top media makers all over regional Australia who bring authentic stories to the world. The Rural Room platform empowers people from the sticks to tell and share their own stories, with their own voices, to close the gap between city and country and to help people tap into their creative selves as a way of expression.
